The High Priestess
As warden of Nyx-door,
I have discovered
an aesthesis for the heavens
so elementary and profound,
I can pluck the chords of stars
with an edge of my fingertips
or plunge head first into
the moon waters of esoteric language
and turn the tide of perception.
Held in my mind is the light
of ancient nova long extinguished.
There is matter yet to be revealed
and energy streaming
through me as an infinite loop
of all-time’s most creative intuition.
For Get Listed! in The Imaginary Garden.
Kerry, this is such elevated poetry. I bow down to your brilliance.
ReplyDelete“I have discovered

“or plunge head first into
the moon waters of esoteric language
and turn the tide of perception.” ... Wow. What a powerful gift. Instant perception-shifts are key to survival.
The last six lines — Girl, I am in awe of your goddess-ness.
There are so many poems I wouldn't have written without your coaxing and fine examples of how to use word lists innovatively, so I thank you most sincerely for all that has inspired poetry over the years.
DeleteThis is incredibly deep and potent, Kerry!❤️ I especially like; "Held in my mind is the light of ancient nova long extinguished. There is matter yet to be revealed," .. perhaps all the answers lie within us. ❤️
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, dear Sanaa. As above, so it is below. And within.
DeleteBeautiful and mystic. I do sincerely love "I can pluck the chords of stars" I wish I could.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Debi!
DeleteI love what you have found, and what still can be divulged from the stars... but I feel that some things are still best kept secret.
ReplyDeletePerhaps it is better that man does not unlock all the secrets of the universe. Thanks, Bjorn.
DeleteI can pluck the chords of stars...a lovely line and thought. I feel that way everytime I watch a meteor shower. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI have fallen in love with the word "esthesis". Plucking cords of the stars is no easy task, especially with only the fingertips. I lay that on the sensitivity of those stars, not on the power of mere fingertips.
ReplyDeleteGood use of your word list, Kerry, thank you for them.
Please reconsider doing them no more, I relate writing with these to working jigsaw puzzles with multiple possibilities.
..
All good things must come to an end, Jim.
DeleteYou are masterful with words - so intelligent and thoughtful. I must also say your drawings blow me away - I loved when you would video tape the process and I would watch, transfixed. The night sky mesmerizes me here in the mountains - there are times I really believe I could just reach up and pluck them from the sky.
ReplyDeleteYou are too kind, Margaret. Thank you so much for your appreciation.
DeleteHead first is the only way! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI believe so!
DeleteI often wonder when I read poems of the cosmos whether it reflects our disappointment with our own planet and need to find somewhere else; yet ours is really the only viable place to live and travelling in space to find something better is horrifically expensive and unlikely to be achievable. Sadly the problem is not with the planet but with us.
ReplyDeleteA magical wonder of a poem, Kerry. Your use of language awes me.
ReplyDeleteOh, I would like to sit with this priestess. Your eloquent and creative usage of a word list floors me. Your art and words make quite an impression.
