(When You Remember)
When you think of me,
be it as the voice of a far season,
a springing after many frosted years,
or the first raindrop's long fall
from shadow.
When you remember me,
be it as a time of day unblemished,
a dawning through new windows, quiet
as the pause between heartbeats, eyes closed.
And still.
Kenia Santos is our Guest in the Imaginary Garden today, inviting us to channel the titles of Post-Rock songs. I chose Remember me as a time of the day - Explosions in the Sky, and wrote a Flash 55 for the weekend.

Thank you, Kim.
DeleteThis is wonderful... and the thought of being remembered is something I have started to think a lot about.
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking of what legacy I might leave behind me, not in material terms but in other meaningful ways I may have touched a few lives, with my deeds and words.
DeleteA beautiful, peaceful remembering, we long for it.
ReplyDeleteYes, we do.
DeleteI love the stillness in this poem. Remembering the poet as a raindrop and as an unblemished time of day is sublime.
ReplyDeleteI would like someone beloved to see a raindrop and think of me. Thanks, Viv.
DeleteI've said it somewhere else: most of us have somehow managed to write about memory and remembrance! Isn't it fascinating?! I wonder if the music is to be blamed.
ReplyDeleteThis is another mark you leave on the world, thos poem. You imprint life on us all.
Thank you so much for these kind words, Kenia. Lots of love to you and appreciation for being such an inspiration to me.
